Description
Grocer’s daughter Eveline Fenton’s life changes forever when she’s caught up in a suffragette march in the summer of 1909.
She meets Constance Mornington, whose father is a wealthy Harley Street doctor, and despite their differing backgrounds they form a lifelong friendship.
The girls do not conform to their parents’ expectations – Connie is expected to marry well, but she falls in love with a lowly bank clerk and is forced to choose between him and her family, while Eveline is attracted to a gentleman she meets at a suffragette meeting – but is Laurence Jones-Fairbrook merely dallying with her affections?
